OUR CATTLE
Our 134 acre farm is nestled in the heart of Volga, a small farming community of Southern Indiana. It got its namesake from the shear abundance of Poplar tree groves located throughout the farm’s 100 acre woods. A local historic landmark commonly referred to as “The Officer Woods.” We settled the land in the fall of 2014 and have been working since that day to grow and improve both forage quality and cattle viability through regenerative farming practices. We are firm believers that the farm is a living organism; one, that when managed properly, can work for the farmer. We rotate our approximately 30 head of prominently red angus cattle throughout 7 sections of approximately 5-7 acres every 10-15 days in order to optimize forage health and give ample rest periods between grazings. We strive daily to learn more about how we can better manage our farm and optimize the health and well-being of our herd.
FREEZER BEEF (USDA AND CUSTOM)
Our cattle raised for beef production reside in pastures the entirety of their life with plentiful shade. They also have free choice grain that is available to them at all times. We grind our feed at the farm, using locally sourced corn from neighboring farm friends. We stand behind our beef products 100%, and we are extremely proud of the meat we sell. We encourage you to try the farm-raised, locally sourced, fresh beef difference!
OUR PRODUCTS
HEIFERS
We’re proud to offer our customers quality cattle with proven pedigrees. We currently have a few very nice heifers in the replacement pen that would be a great addition to anyone’s herd. Give us a call if you’d like to know more!
BULLS
We currently have a few age-advantaged bulls that will turn two this coming January that are available, and we also have some very promising bull calves to wean come fall. Look for pictures of these guys to come soon!
USDA BEEF CUTS AND BURGER
Pick up your freezer beef from Poplar Grove Farms. We have been told by many of our customers that they simply love our beef, and we can’t say we blame them. That’s because everything we produce at Poplar Grove Farms is grown with love, so our meat looks better, cooks better, and tastes better. Try it out yourself.
